How to play the "E chord" on guitar

The E chord is one of the nicest, and easiest, but also one of the most important chords on guitar.

From mastering this chord, you can build around it to play all sorts of bar chords and power chords.

1. Fingers

  1. Place your index finger on the G string (the 3rd string), on the first fret.
  2. Place your ring finger on the string above it, the D string (the 4th string), on the second fret.
  3. Place you middle finger on the string above, the A string (the 5th string), on the second fret.

2. Strumming

For this chord you should strum all six strings.

How to play the "G chord" on guitar

The G chord can be a bit tricky for guitar beginners, but once mastered, it will open up a whole new spectrum of ability. There are many, many songs that use the G chord, especially simple 3 chord songs.

1. Fingers

  1. Place your baby finger on the high E string (the 1st string), on the thrid fret.
  2. Place your ring finger on the string above it, the B string (the 2nd string), on the third fret.
  3. Place your index finger on the A string (the 5th string), on the second fret.

The D chord is a fairly easy chord, and one that is also used in many simple songs.

1. Fingers

  1. Place your middle finger on the high E string (the 1st string), on the second fret.
  2. Place your ring finger on the string above it, the B string (the 2nd string), on the third fret.
  3. Place your index finger on the G string (the 3rd string), on the second fret.

For this chord you should strum just the first four strings.
